Academic

Writing

Throughout my three years here at the Univerisity of Michigan, I have written papers at numerous points in my journey as a writer.  From beginnings as a freshman writing about the influence of princesses on youth, to exploring the limitations of the Alexandrian Empire in History 239, my academic writing highlights the different moments in time where my experimentation with writing has expanded and developed into the analytical style that I use today.

Non-Fiction
The closest I can possibly get to capturing a memory or feeling in writing is through the work I have put into my creative non-fiction pieces.  These collections of episodes ranging from my small Michigan hometown to my large and loud Puerto Rican family are the moments I've worked hard to recapture and look back on as a way to remember and grow as a writer, woman, and daughter.

Writing 220 -- Fall 2013

Reflecting on my work as a writer, the Gateway course to the Sweetland Minor in Writing helped me to think critically about who I am as a writer in terms of my motivations, style, development throughout my academic career.  The class provided an opportunity to stop and reflect on where I am as a writer during my first semester of junior year in relation to the moments I have written about in previous years.

This is just a sample of my work. To see more or discuss possible work >>
