I want to be more than just a writer -- I want to be a change agent. Luckily, these two dreams go hand in hand. I believe that great things happen when individuals begin to write, to share their stories, and to show the world that we need to celebrate diversity and not just sweep it under the rug.
Action is a core component of my work as a Minor in Writing because it has given me the means and the power to research and discuss inequities in our society, and to actively work against historically institutionalized structures that we may not even see. And while I have no idea where I will be in five years, I know that I will be using my writing to create change and promote justice for all people. This is just the beginning.
